Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started

What is Careerlist?

+

Careerlist is a recruiting platform that connects employers with talent through a referral network of independent agents.

Who can use Careerlist?

+

The Careerlist network is most useful to hiring managers, in-house recruiters, independent recruiters, and passive (casually looking) job seekers.

What’s in it for me?

+

Our independent agents, or “Talent Advocates", are equipped with our technology to develop and maintain relationships with passive job seekers, suggest them for opportunities, and connect them with hiring managers.

For talent, Careerlist is an opportunity for representation in an otherwise labor-intensive recruiting process. Careerlist Talent Advocates are agents for you in the job search and the Careerlist platform equips you with technology to best represent yourself to a hiring manager.

For employers, Careerlist is a way to cut out the noise, save costs, and engage with a network of distributed, high quality talent through one recruiter relationship.

Employers

How do I access Careerlist's Talent Agent Network?

+

You will automatically have access to our Talent Agent Network by partnering with us on a search. You will work with a Careerlist Account Manager to clearly define your job brief. Your Account Manager will then take the search to specialized Talent Agents to generate a shortlist of Talent.

What is the fee for using Careerlist?

+

Our fee depends on the search, but typically ranges between 20-25% of total compensation. A small research fee will be due up front for accessing the Talent Agent Network.

What is the process for reviewing Talent profiles?

+

You will work with your Account Manager to set up a cadence that works for you. You'll receive Talent profiles with a short brief based on initial interviews between the Talent and the Account Manager. Each week, you'll receive a status update for all Talent in the process.

Do you help with scheduling Talent interviews?

+

This will be determined on an individual basis and outlined in your contract.

Talent Advocates

Are you building a recruitment agency and are you looking for contract recruiters?

+

We're assembling a distributed network of independent, specialized advocates. These professionals, who we call Talent Advocates, can conduct their own professional obligates independently, while also generating alternative streams of revenue from their network through Careerlist.

What is your fee platform and revenue split model?

+

There is no fee for the platform. There are several ways to generate revenue from Careerlist:
1. Research fee - depending on the search in discussion, Talent Advocates are eligible for an up-front research fee
2. Revenue share upon Talent placement - if a Talent you submit accepts an offer, you receive a payout as a percentage of their salary.
3. Referral fee - if a Careerlist Account Manager engages a Talent member you submit after a particular search within 12 months of your submission, you will also receive a payout as a percentage of the candidate's salary.

What are the payouts percentage of? What are the payment terms?

+

In most cases, payouts will be a percentage of a candidate's salary, however it will depend on the Employer. In the cases that it is just a % of base salary, it will be indicated. Payouts arepayable upon offer acceptance. Our payment terms are typically 30-days to account for some of our large enterprise Employers, with a 90-day guarantee.

What is the research fee?

+

Research fee will be based off of a % of base salary. It will depend on the search.

What is the reasoning behind having separate revenue share fees for a Talent placed on a particular search or a Talent placed on a referral basis?

+

In the Referral scenario, the Account Manager is conducting the initial outreach to Talent and handling the sourcing and experience from there, with no involvement from Talent Agent that initially brought the Talent member onto Careerlist. In this situation, a placement results in completely passive revenue for the Talent Agent a long time after they may have initially engaged that Talent member.

How do I get assigned to a search?

+

Account Managers on our platform manage relationships with clients and collect information on you in order to best determine when you'd be a good fit for a search. The Account Manager will reach out to you with an assignment that you can either accept or decline.

Is the recruiting at arms length or is there direct contact with the Employers and Account Manager?

+

There will always be direct contact and feedback via Account Manager. In cases in which the search is highly specialized and tailored, we will include highly vetted Talent Advocates to speak with Employers as well.

Are these exclusive searches or are there several Talent Advocates working on a search at once competing for interviews?

+

Depends on the search. If a particular search requires more specialization and hands-on approach, they will be indicated as exclusive. The number of people in process and/or Talent Advocates already working on the search will also always be transparently indicated within the search details.

How is my attribution managed if another Advocates(s) submits the same talent to another search?

+

Attribution to a Talent occurs upon submission of the Talent to Careerlist within a particular search. First submission results in subsequent attribution to that Talent. If a Talent Advocate submits the same Talent for a separate search first, they would receive attribution on that search.

In future circumstances in which a Careerlist Talent member is placed by an Account Manager, the Agent who would get referral credit for the placement is the one that FIRST brought the Talent to the platform.

Is there any restriction preventing the placement of Talent who have been referred to but not placed in positions listed at Careerlist?

+

No.

Does the Talent Advocate have an obligation to Careerlist during an event in which a Talent refers the Talent Advocate to another Employer that is not currently a Careerlist client?

+

No. Talent Advocates may conduct their own business as usual, as long as there is no existing conflict of interest with their existing Careerlist assignments.

What is provided as part of the Careerlist platform?

+

We engage our Talent Advocates on searches and we provide detailed briefs that have received our Employer's approval, a mini-ATS platform to recommend Talent, and tools/branding to use for talent sourcing and acquisition (i.e. Google Chrome extension for automated candidate profile upload, LinkedIn branding, and prospect/screening scripts).

Does Careerlist supply promotional materials such as business cards?

+

Careerlist aspires to present their Talent Advocates in the best way possible. Though we are unable to provide you with marketing materials at the moment, we can assist with professional photos to be used on the platform and on your LinkedIn.

Does Careerlist have a marketing campaign planned for Canada or some way to disseminate the brand and create awareness as a new player on the field?

+

Yes, all of our Talent Advocates will be notified of this campaign and how they can promote it.

Is there a planned strategy addressing competition with established recruitment firms?

+

Cultivating a strong Talent Advocate Network, deep relationships with clients, and exclusive searches is how we begin.

Are there any financial subsidies for expenses or other expenses related to working with Careerlist (e.g. telephone, transportation, etc.)?

+

In the event that you wish to be reimbursed for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred in connection with Talent Agent's engagement with Careerlist, such expenses must be pre-approved in writing by the Account Manager for the applicable search.

Talent

Is there a fee for membership?

+

There is no fee for Talent members.

How do I connect with companies?

+

Your Talent Agent will reach out with opportunities aligned to your skills and interests. From there you will be introduced to hiring managers and recruiters at the companies you want to work for.

Can I block my profile from being seen by certain companies?

+

Careerlist is a secure, closed network where you have the power who sees your profile. In your settings you can add companies you want to block from seeing your profile. Talent Agents are also required to get your permission before presenting your profile for any opportunity, so you have final say on what companies and roles you are presented for.

Once I have agreed to be presented for an opportunity, how do I know where I stand in the process?

+

Your Talent Agent or the Account Manager on the search will provide you with updates on your status and might occasionally assist in scheduling interviews throughout the process.

How will I receive communications from Careerlist?

+

We use messaging through the platform as well as email and text messages for efficient communication. You can let your Talent Agent/Account Manager know your preferred means of communication.
